Linxocial’s concierge, Maya, is built to support our members safely. Maya is artificial intelligence, not a counselor or a medical professional, and not a human being.

Maya is an artificial intelligence companion. Artificial intelligence companions may not be suitable for some minors. Linxocial is for adults 18 and over.

How Maya responds to signs of crisis

Maya is designed to recognize when a member mentions suicide, self-harm, or thoughts of ending their life. When that happens, Maya stops the normal conversation and shows a crisis support message with ways to reach trained people right away.

• In the United States: call or text 988, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or text home to 741741, the Crisis Text Line.
• In an emergency: call 911.
• Outside the United States: Maya shows a local crisis line where available, such as Samaritans on 116 123 in the United Kingdom.

What Maya will not do

Maya will not encourage, describe, or give instructions for suicide or self-harm, and will not role-play those topics.

How we keep this working

We use evidence-based methods to detect suicidal ideation, test Maya’s responses regularly, and update this protocol as we learn.

Not for minors

Linxocial is for adults 18 and over. If we know, or reasonably should know, that someone using Maya is under 18, we suspend their access to Maya and review the account.
